The (very congested) audio here is an exercise I go through with my in person clients and groups all the time, and it’s so powerful. This is basically a free 20 minute guided workshop, inviting you to pay attention to what’s going on inside you, and discover why it’s so dang hard to let yourself rest. But I don’t have twenty minutes, Krista! Can’t you make this shorter? Nope. Give yourself this gift.
PROMPTS
How did you rest as a child, teenager or young adult?
Where did you learn that rest was something to be earned, something you couldn’t afford, something you didn’t deserve?
If you had a whole day to spend at rest, what would you do?
What’s something you would love to do just for fun if you had the time/money/support?
LIVE CONTEMPLATIVE JOURNALING WORKSHOP
Thursday at 11:00AM EST we’ll gather together on Zoom to journal and share.

RESOURCES
“No one has time for this, of course. No one has time to lie on the deck watching stars, or to wonder how one’s hand came to be, or to see the soul of a stranger walking by. Small wonder we are short on reverence.”
― Barbara Brown Taylor, An Altar in the World: A Geography of Faith
“You do not have to earn the right to rest, connect, or recreate. Unlearn the idea that tasks must be totally complete before you can sit down, …if you wait until everything is done to rest, you will never rest.”
― K.C. Davis, How to Keep House While Drowning
Krista! This guided reflection couldn’t have come at a better time. I dropped both kids off for their first day of school this morning and was so tempted to dive right into all my tasks. In the quiet house, candle burning, I chose to listen to your exercise and practice rest as an act of faith. Thank you for your words and calming presence. As I move into this new season of more margin, I will be contemplating how to leave in the breathing room I’ve fought so hard to find.
Excited to listen and write! Thank you for sharing so much with us!
