"asparagus so perfectly cooked it could be a whole meal itself"....oh, still working to master this in the kitchen. Too often it turns out like "asparagus so rubbery your dog won't even eat it" 🤣

Love this pairing. I'm reading "Jewel" by Bret Lott now!

I just laughed so hard I snorted 😂 Apparently I made asparagus the first THREE TIMES I cooked for Jeff and in his mind he was like “okay I get it. You like asparagus. Enough already.” My grandmother’s recipe for hollandaise sauce is the best I’ve ever had so when asparagus is in season we basically just use it as an excuse to make and eat what is essentially straight butter without shame.

I just looked up that book on Amazon! It looks great! Might take that with me to FL in January. Do you think it would be a good vacation read or not so much?

omg "butter without shame". Since becoming gluten-free and ordering fewer Benedicts, I've totally started ordering poached eggs with sides of hollandaise. Love this comment thread so much.

I’m about to change your life. Eggs Benedict, hold the English muffin, sub potatoes. A Benedict scramble which I find to be superior to the original tbh

Hehehe. Ooh hollandaise sauce is delicious and I haven't made that forever! Adding it to my grocery list this week 👊🏻

Hmm. Spirit of full disclosure, I'm only three chapters in. It's a little heavy topic wise, but the writing is lyrical and light...if that makes sense. So maybe a contemplative vacation read? 🤔

Okay that’s good to know. I’m going to add it to the maybe pile.

I’ve heard about this book and excited to dive in! I’m currently reading and loving the puppets of spelhorst, Kate DiCamillo’s newest book!

I too loved this book! I felt like it was a good read regardless of what you do in life, but definitely a must read for those in the management and service industries!

My favorite quote was “Service is black and white. Hospitality is color.” And I didn’t catch the one about legends but I love that one too! How fun? What an exciting way to look at people!

I completely agree. It made me think about how I could incorporate hospitality into my work as a therapist and give my clients some really tangible things that I would want.

I thought it was so cool how the staff was always looking for ways to create legends (those really unique experiences for guests) that were even more legendary than the last. They really created a culture of creativity!

Yes! Another way to practice creativity as a gift!

I love these pairings, Krista! The detail in your descriptions is always so spot on. For the record, I love heavy restaurant silverware. Something about it is so satisfying.

“Nobody knows what they’re doing before they do it.” I always need this reminder!

I enjoyed reading this, Krista. Your sensory descriptions are transportive! (And I don't even like heavy silverware!!!)

Ooh especially loved the “sounds” section on this one! Guilty of now yelling “behind!” in our kitchen and my husband is like you really don’t have to do that 😂
